‘Warm Milk’ evoked an immediate visceral response from me. Whether it’s being familiar with the kind of heat the author describes or the oddity of the situation, it made me feel and the language and prose style are unique.

About the Author

ילידת ירושלים ומתגוררת בה. גדלה בחברה החרדית ולמדה במסגרות החינוך החרדי. בוגרת בהצטיינות של החוג למשפטים והחוג למחשבת ישראל באוניברסיטה העברית ובוגרת ביה”ס לקולנוע ‘מעלה’. בעברה רכזת הפעילות של תנועת השמאל הדתית “נתיבות שלום”. כותבת שותפה של המחזה ‘בפתח עיניים’, שהועלה בסטודיו למשחק ‘ניסן נתיב’ בירושלים בשנת 2008 ובמאית הסרט הדוקומנטרי ‘המשיח תמיד יבוא’, שהוקרן בפסטיבל ‘דוקאביב’ בשנת 2010 ובמקומות שונים בעולם ובישראל. זוכת המלגה הבין-לאומית של קרן פוזן (Posen Foundation), לכתיבת רומן ביכורים בשנת 2013 וזוכת הפרס הראשון בתחרות כתיבה יהודית-נשית לשנת 2016. פרסמה שירים בכתבי-עת שונים וכיום חברה במערכת המוסף הספרותי הוירטואלי ‘המוסך’, המתפרסם במסגרת בלוג הספרייה הלאומית. ילדה לפני חודש וחצי את בנה הבכור.

Jerusalem-born and dwelling. Grew up Haredi, and studied in the Haredi education system. Graduated with honors from Hebrew University, majoring in Law and Jewish Thought, and graduate of Ma’aleh School of Television, Film & the Arts. Served as activities coordinator of the religious left-wing movement Netivot Shalom. Co-writer of Befetach Enayim, a play put on at Nissan Nativ Acting Studio in Jerusalem in 2008, and director of The Messiah Will Always Come, a documentary screened at Docaviv International Documentary Film Festival in 2010 as well as elsewhere in Israel and the world. Winner of the international Posen Foundation fellowship in 2013 for writing her debut novel, and first-place winner of the Yaacov Herzog Center’s Jewish Women writing contest in 2016. Has published poems in various journals and is a member of Mussach, a literary supplement blog of the National Library of Israel. Recently gave birth to her firstborn son.

A SmokeLong Summer 26 is closer than you think. This year we’re starting early and staying late. The summer just got longer.

As always, at the heart of A SmokeLong Summer is our peer-review workshop in small groups of around 15 writers, drafting to 3 writing tasks each week. Our peer-review workshop is all in writing, so you can participate from anywhere, anytime. This summer our writing tasks will be generative and thematically leaning towards community. Our theme this year: “The Global Flash Village”. Writing doesn’t have a be a game of Solitaire; it can be a team sport.

Our participants often say their writing has dramatically increased in community. A SmokeLong Summer 26 will take you around the world, introducing you to writers from every corner of our beautiful planet.
