Details:
Length of Workshop: 7 weeks in three modules, beginning February 3, 2020
Module One (weeks 1-2): Drafting compelling openings to draw your reader in — with Shasta Grant
Module Two (weeks 3-4): Focusing on rhythm, pacing, and cadence to find the urgency and energy of flash — with Christopher Allen
Module Three (weeks 5-6): Crafting Endings that will stick with your reader — with Meghan Phillips
Week Seven: Editing and final comments

Shasta Grant is the author of Gather US Up and Bring Us Home (Split Lip Press, 2017). She won the 2015 Kenyon Review Short Fiction Contest and was the 2016 SmokeLong Quarterly Kathy Fish Fellow. Her work has appeared in cream city review, Epiphany, Hobart, MonkeyBicycle, and elsewhere. She received her MFA from Sarah Lawrence College and has been awarded residencies from Hedgebrook and The Kerouac Project. She is the Coordinating Editor at SmokeLong Quarterly.
Christopher Allen is the author of the flash fiction collection Other Household Toxins (Matter Press, 2018). His work has appeared in The Best Small Fictions 2019, Booth, Indiana Review, Split Lip Magazine, and more. He has judged the Bath Flash Fiction Award, the TSS Flash 400 Award, and others. Allen is the editor-in-chief of SmokeLong Quarterly.
Meghan Phillips is the author of the forthcoming flash fiction chapbook Abstinence Only (Barrelhouse). Her short fiction has appeared in Barrelhouse, Hobart, Passages North, and wigleaf, and has been anthologized in Best Microfiction 2019 and The Best Small Fictions 2019.
