Patricia Abbott is the author of more than 140 short stories, which have appeared in literary journals, crime fiction zines, magazines, and anthologies. Two e-collections can be found online (Monkey Justice and Home Invasion). In 2015 Polis Books published Concrete Angel, which is the story of a dysfunctional mother and daughter in Philadelphia from the 1960s through 1980. SHOT IN DETROIT will be published in June, 2016. She won a Derringer Award for her short story “My Hero” in 2009. She is the senior film critic for Crimespree Magazine and blogs at pattinase.blogspot.com.

The SmokeLong Grand Micro Contest

Deadline November 15th!

The SmokeLong Grand Micro Contest (The Mikey) is now an annual competition celebrating and compensating the best micro fiction and nonfiction online.

The grand prize winner of The Mikey is automatically nominated for Best Small Fictions and any other prize we deem appropriate. In addition, we will pay the grand prize winner $1000. Second place: $500. Third place $300. Finalists: $100. All finalists and placers will be published in the December ’25 issue of SmokeLong.

Previously published as well as previously unpublished work will be considered.
