Cynthia Litz grew up in a coal mining town in Appalachian Virginia and is a physician and published author. She received her MD from Virginia Commonwealth University and has practiced internal medicine in clinics serving the uninsured of Minneapolis and Dallas. Litz organizes the Highland Park Literary Festival with writing workshops for teenagers in Dallas. She lives in Dallas and New York City.

In September 2022 SmokeLong launched a workshop environment/community christened SmokeLong Fitness. This acclaimed community workshop is happening right now on our dedicated workshop site. If you choose to join us, you will work in a small group of around 15-20 participants to give and receive feedback on flash narratives.
