Who Will Win the Race?

Chapter 1 – The Start of the Race
“On your mark, get set, go!” the judge cried. Joshu takes the lead.
There are some rocks up ahead of Joshu.
Joshu falls. Oh no! The other robots are already far ahead of Joshu.

Chapter 2 – Will Joshu Win?
Josh hits his fast button and zooms.
And then he wins the race!

Amara is a six-year-old rising 1st grader. When not reading and writing, she likes to ride her bike and catch bugs. She keeps her mind active by playing her parents in chess and checkers.

The SmokeLong Grand Micro Contest (The Mikey) is now an annual competition celebrating and compensating the best micro fiction and nonfiction online.

The grand prize winner of The Mikey is automatically nominated for Best Small Fictions and any other prize we deem appropriate. In addition, we will pay the grand prize winner $1000. Second place: $500. Third place $300. Finalists: $100. All finalists and placers will be published in the December ’25 issue of SmokeLong.

Previously published as well as previously unpublished work will be considered.
