The SmokeLong 2 1/2-hour live Zoom workshop is designed to give participants a solid foundation in the art of drafting compelling flash narratives. During the workshop, we will generate numerous story beginnings, draft stories, and focus on what we need to tell the world. We will also learn and practice new drafting techniques.
What sentence-level narrative devices make flash narratives compelling?
What sets flash narratives apart from other narrative forms?
What is a moment of being?
We’ll discuss these topics and more, and we’ll come away with lots of story drafts we can’t wait to share with the world.

In September 2022 SmokeLong launched a workshop environment/community christened SmokeLong Fitness. This community workshop is happening right now on our dedicated workshop site. If you choose to join us, you will work in a small group of around 15-20 participants to give and receive feedback on flash narratives—one new writing task each week.
