Smoking With C.R. Park

(Read the Story) August 15, 2004

C.R. Park

Art by Marty D. Ison

In your bio, you mention postmodernism and critical realism. So give us an example of a favorite from each genre.

Oh, gosh, I really have no idea what those things mean. I just thought it sounded cool.

Aside from flash, what other sorts of writing do you do? Any preferences?

I mostly write poetry, haiku and short stories. I prefer very short forms, as a way of paring experience down to its core. Also, I don’t have much of an attention span.

How much of this story is fiction and how much of it is creative non-fiction?

Everything’s true except what I made up.

As a self-professed poetry idiot, I can’t express how much I love the last line of this. Do you yourself “get poetry?” And if not, what’s the barrier?

I get poetry the same way I get music. On an intuitive level, beyond reason and semantics.

About the Author

C.R. Park has been struggling to gracefully manage the transition between postmodernism and critical realism ever since she found out about it. She is impossible.
