The March Micro Marathon 2026

We’re doing it again! SmokeLong’s March Micro Marathon has been the wildest romp of prompts we’ve ever done. Last year 170 participants drafted more than 3000 micros, and this naturally led to many publications, each one eligible to win The SmokeLong Workshop Prize.

The peer-review workshop of The March Micro Marathon will be March 2-25, but we’ll be letting the participants into the workshop a week earlier. After March 25th, you’ll have a week to edit your work before entering the competitions of The March Micro Marathon. Then, we’ll also invite you to stick around through the end of April in SmokeLong Fitness. If you’re passionate about workshopping, we want to write with you!

Included in The March Micro Marathon are webinars with Ingrid Jendrzejewski and Kim Chinquee, write-ins and open mics!

Read more about The March Micro Marathon HERE.

Please book by February 20th! We’ll take bookings up to February 28th, but we start onboarding on February 21st. If you are able to jump in quickly without too much preparation, then we’re happy for you to write with us. If, however, you are not used to using social media platforms we highly suggest participating in the onboarding week that starts February 21st.

A SmokeLong Summer 26!

A SmokeLong Summer 26 is closer than you think. This year we’re starting early and staying late. The summer just got longer.

As always, at the heart of A SmokeLong Summer is our peer-review workshop in small groups of around 15 writers, drafting to 3 writing tasks each week. Our peer-review workshop is all in writing, so you can participate from anywhere, anytime. This summer our writing tasks will be generative and thematically leaning towards community. Our theme this year: “The Global Flash Village”. Writing doesn’t have a be a game of Solitaire; it can be a team sport.

Our participants often say their writing has dramatically increased in community. A SmokeLong Summer 26 will take you around the world, introducing you to writers from every corner of our beautiful planet.
